These days, the best tattoo artists have celebrity status and a huge Instagram following. In Sydney, particularly the Inner City and Inner West, we are spoilt for choice, here are our top picks for where to get ink in the area:

Hunter and Fox

This Alexandria parlour was established in 2013 by Deepak Munsami (@deepakmunsami). Deepak has an international career and is ahead of the game when it comes to the latest trends in body art, constantly studying the masters. His signature style is Japanese; however, his American traditional game is equally as strong. The team at Tattoo Movement has a global presence including Swedish artist, Mikael Ramgard (@mikaelramgard) who is well known after appearing on the reality show, InkMasters. This pretty Inner West studio is the workspace of some phenomenal talent. With a following of 172k, Sophia Baughan (@sophiabaughan) has a worldwide presence with her Neo-Traditional designs. Inspired by nature, Sophia is up there with Australia’s best. Hand in Hand is also home to the amazing artistry of Elizabeth Huxley May (@elizabethhuxleymay) and Ellie Thompson (@ellietattoo) who starred in the homegrown reality show Bondi Ink. Both ladies are renowned for their beautiful and intricate designs. As true artisans, their work can also be seen in other formats including t-shirts, totes, hats, prints and stickers, all sold in-store and online.
