Spring Into Fun

September 6th, 2019 - by Brad Gillespie

Spring is a great time to shake off the winter blues, get out in the sun and enjoy what’s on offer.

Sydney’s inner-city area has a great selection of fairs, fetes and festivals to help celebrate the arrival of spring. Here’s a few to get you started.

Precinct 75 Design Fair
14 September 2019

Looking to inject a little flair into your life? Head to Precinct 75 Design Fair on Saturday 14 September for the best in local design. Top-notch food and beverage stalls will keep you fuelled while you peruse homewares, furniture, antiques and other goodies. The design fair will showcase the wares of both permanent stores and temporary stallholders.

Malaysia Fest
21-22 September 2019

Spice up your spring with Malaysia Fest, the largest student-run festival in Sydney. Malaysia Fest brings the best of Malaysian food, culture and celebration to Darling Harbour’s Tumbalong Park over two days this September. Sample delicious satays, curries and rice dishes, enter competitions, and catch cultural performances showcasing traditional arts and contemporary talents.

Erko Berzerko
2 November 2019

Wrangling fairy floss at a school fete is what childhood memories are made of. So what better way to celebrate spring than heading to Erko Berzerko. Held on 2 November, Erskineville Public School’s biennial fete is an inner west staple, drawing thousands for its food, rides, games and more. Arrive early to grab a barbecue brekkie roll with your coffee, or lunch on a selection of international foods from the food stalls. Devonshire tea will keep you rolling through the afternoon. Then browse second-hand books and the white elephant stall while the kids groove at the silent disco or settle in for crafting activities.

We’re excited to be Platinum sponsors of Erko Berzerko for the second time running. Keep an eye out for our Fete boards in the local neighbourhood. And The Agency’s Head Auctioneer, Thomas McGlynn, will be conducting a live auction at 3pm.

Crown St Public School Fete
3 November 2019

Want even more fete fun? Keep the ball rolling at Crown Street Public School’s biennial fete on Sunday 3 November. One of the oldest continuous schools in Australia, Crown Street celebrates its 170th anniversary this year, and their fete is sure to be a cracker. Get along to this family-friendly event for rides, kids workshops, plenty of food and entertainment. Local DJ Jeremy Thomas will ensure you skip to the beat of spring, while Sideshow Alley promises something for all the family. You can purchase a ride wristband to keep the fun happening all day long. And no school fete would be complete without face painting, brought to you by Periwinkle Parties.

Newtown Festival
10 November 2019

Have fun in the sun and help support your local community at the Newtown Festival. On Sunday 10 November Camperdown Memorial Rest Park comes alive for this popular annual event. The festival is run by Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, with money raised helping support homeless outreach services, the aged, people with disabilities and others. Head to the festival to be part of this vibrant, inclusive part of the inner city. You’ll be spoiled for choice with almost 300 stalls selling food and beverages, fashion, arts and crafts. And you can enjoy entertainment from wide array of local performers. The Better Read Than Dead Writer’s Tent will feature again, alongside the Eco Village, Kids Zone and Sassy Treats Dog Show.
